Investigate the pros and cons of a few different types of baby walkers.
As we have talked about in other posts, you need to make sure that the walker is right for your baby. Am I going to buy the stand up lawn mower type or the sit-in type? Does the walker offer a warranty? What does the consumer reports say about this type of walker? Will my baby be safe in this walker? Will this walker help my baby learn and develop certain skills? Everyone’s life is different so make sure the baby walkers you choose are right for your baby.
2- Make sure the baby walker is right for your baby’s age and size.
You should be aware of what walker is right for your baby’s size and age. If you put your 14 month old into a walker that was meant for a 7 month old some of the safety features might not work like they are supposed to because of the extra weight a 14 month old has over a 7 month old. If your baby cannot even crawl, you shouldn’t buy the stand up lawn mower type because he will not be able to use it correctly for a few more months. Be smart about your walker and make sure that it will work for your baby.
3- Make sure the walker you want has passed all safety tests.
This is the most important step before you buy a walker. You need to make sure that it is safe for your baby. You do not want to put your baby at risk because this walker was a little bit cheaper than that walker. Make sure it has all of the safety features needed. If possible, look at the display, make sure the safety features work and then make your final decision. If you were to buy a stroller you wouldn’t want it to fall apart on the street would you? You wouldn’t want your stroller to pinch your baby would you? Just like you look into the safety of your stroller before you purchase it you are going to want do the same with your baby walker.
4- Buy a walker that you would enjoy.
Some people would recommend that you do not buy the walker for you. I say go for it! If you enjoy it, there is a good chance your baby will too. If you enjoy playing with it, there is a great chance that you are going to spend time with your baby teaching him how to play with all of the fun gadgets attached to the walker. As long as it meets the safety standards and you like it, show you baby love and buy it.
